↳Regulus Arcturus BlackREGULUS — “The Little King” | “The King Star”
ETYMOLOGY: According to the Babylonians, Regulus is “the star that stands at the lion’s breast” (referring to Leo). Regulus means “the little king” or “prince” in Latin (diminutive of rex — “king”). The star is first believed to have been referred to as Regulus by Copernicus. It is likely a translation of the Hellenistic Greek word Basilikos (“little king”) used by Geminos and Ptolemy, though it could also be a translation of the Babylonian Lugal, which means “king.” The Arabic name for the star is Qalb al-Asad, meaning “heart of the lion.”
